So for this entry, I'll talk about our first weekend here in Barcelona. We managed to arrive during the busiest, most crowded time of the year for the people here in Barcelona: Three Kings Day. It is actually bigger than Christmas and for those who can't really imagine that, it is kind of like what Mardi Gras is for the people of New Orleans (only with a hint of the Bible thrown in there, but just as much drinking). Below are some pics of what it looked like outside our our apartment window. There were all kinds of food, toy, game, and shopping stands lined up all along Gran Via.
Everyone from both apartments decided to get together and head down to Placa Catalunya to watch the parade. You would have thought that we were walking through Times Square in New York with all the people we had to push ourselves through if it hadn't been for everyone around us speaking in Spanish or Catalan. (Catalan is the main language here in this region of Spain. It's a mix between French, Spanish, and I've heard a little bit of Italian.) It was cold but exciting to be around so much energy. The parade was a procession of the Three Kings following the North Star along Calle de Pelai.

For the Santo Reyes you are suppose to leave you shoe by a windo and then the kings will leave you a gift. Also you are suppose to eat a slice of a rosca and if you get the baby doll in your piece you have to have a party on feb 2. I know this info is after the fact but thought you'ld like to know. Over here your auntie lucy, nana, tia anita, and grandpa got a baby so we had the party at auntie lucy's and combined it with the super bowl...boo-hoo the bears didn't win :(
